University of Salford Facilities Available

The University of Salford is currently spending more than £150m on new facilities, including the £10m Salford Law School which opened in September 2007.

Examples of University facilities available:-

Acoustic Laboratory

These facilities include audio measurement to national and international standards, which provides a valuable service to industry and commerce. Salford remains the only UK lab north of Watford to be United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited for the subjective testing of hearing protection.

Digital audio recording studios

Recording studios, video edit suites, music, drama, and dance studios electro acoustic television and radio studios can be made available to businesses.

Wind Tunnel Testing

The Commercial Enterprise Unit has a wide variety of wind tunnels available ranging from subsonic to supersonic. They can be adapted easily depending on the type of test to be carried out. Tests are usually carried out on scale models for items such as wing sections and motor cars. Scale models of buildings built to architects' designs can be used to assess wind loading, wind-induced structural vibration, the wind environment around buildings, and pollution dispersion. Full size items can be tested - such as roofing materials, vents and wind turbines.

3D Printing Rapid Prototyping Facility

This exciting service could revolutionise the essential elements of your design process, testing and prototyping. 3D printing enables your organisation to move a step beyond two dimensional images to the production of actual 3D models.

Virtual Environments Centre

This is a superb facility available to assist businesses in utilising 3D visualisations to enhance and showcase their business offering. The facility includes 3D models for marketing, product visualisation for proof of concept, virtual tours of premises, project walk-throughs for approval by planners and panoramas of objects / areas to help improve website look and feel.

Human Performance Lab

This is a state-of-the-art purpose-built lab which contains nearly every possible type of physiological and biomechanical measurement device available.

Hospitality Services

The University of Salford’s catering team can provide services for any event or meeting, from two people to 1,000.

The University walk-in library access is available to non-students.
